As the journey to opening Shields and Locan Elementary begins, I, Kacey Gibson, am honored to be the principal of the eighth elementary school in the Clovis East Area. For those of you who do not know me, I have been in Clovis Unified for 14 years and my entire career as a teacher and administrator have been at schools in the Clovis East Area. This area holds a special place in my heart and I’m excited to see it continue to grow.
Opening a new school is not something I want to do in isolation. I’m excited to build a unique culture with a new staff, a new community, and new students. The best part is our new school community is coming from existing Clovis East Area elementary schools, so continuing to develop the “Wolfpack” and getting our students ready for Reyburn Intermediate and Clovis East High School will be essential. I look forward to working together to build a culture for our new school focused on:
- Character and Acceptance
- Growth Mindset
- 21st Century Innovative Learning through Technology
- Collaborative Learning Environment
- Maintaining the core values of Clovis Unified School District
As the principal, I’m honored to lead and work alongside this community as we build an elementary school from the ground up. This experience comes with change for some, but together we are going to build a neighborhood school where your children feel safe, cared for, and can learn with the newest facilities and resources available.
I’m looking forward to meeting all of you in person!
